Peacemaker Season 2: Everything to Know About the Release Schedule and New DCU Plot
After a three-year wait, the brutal and hilarious anti-hero Peacemaker is finally back. Meanwhile, the rest of the 11th Street Kids are struggling with the aftermath of Project Butterfly, and a new threat has emerged in the form of Rick Flag Sr., the father of the man Peacemaker killed in The Suicide Squad.

The New Plot: A Jump into the DCU
While the show’s first season was a spin-off from the DCEU film The Suicide Squad, the second season is a “soft reboot” set in the new DC Universe. This new season takes place after the events of the DCU film Superman, and it’s being hailed by critics for the way it navigates the change in continuity. The plot will focus more on Chris Smith’s personal journey as he deals with his past actions and the consequences of the dimensional portal he finds.
The new season will also see the return of the fan-favorite team, often referred to as the 11th Street Kids, who are now under scrutiny from ARGUS. The team’s dynamic will be tested as they grapple with the trauma of their past missions and a new antagonist determined to make Peacemaker pay for his actions.
Who’s Back and Who’s New
The second season brings back the core cast that made the first season a hit:
- John Cena as Christopher Smith / Peacemaker
- Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt
- Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo
- Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase / Vigilante
- Steve Agee as John Economos
Joining the cast for Season 2 are several new faces, including Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., the main antagonist of the season. Also joining the cast are Tim Meadows as ARGUS agent Langston Fleury and Michael Rooker in a side-plot as Red St. Wild, a world-renowned eagle hunter who sets his sights on Peacemaker’s loyal pet, Eagly.
The new season has been met with critical acclaim, with many praising James Gunn’s ability to create an emotionally resonant, character-driven story while still delivering the violent and humorous action fans have come to love.
